MMJ Workers turn to Colorado Unions for Support

MMJ Workers Turn To Colorado Unions The U.S. Justice Department has recently warned marijuana dispensaries and licensed growers in Colorado and other states with medical marijuana laws that they could face prosecution for violating federal drug and money-laundering laws. In response, medical marijuana in Colorado workers are turning to the union for support and believe if the members come together, they can come up with collective bargaining agreements proving medical marijuana is an essential part of the retail health care, agriculture and food processing industries. So far actions taken by the labor union have helped foster encouragement among dispensary owners and employees working in the MMJ industry.  Two months ago the union formed a Medical Cannabis and Hemp Workers Division, which has already grown to over 2,000 members in Colorado and California.   For Colorado residents, some medical marijuana experts are saying that this warning from the U.S. Justice Department could be

Medical Marijuana Regulations Colorado Getting too Tight

In Colorado, Laws and regulations on medical marijuana are tighter than ever, forcing many dispensary owners out of business. While the use of marijuana is legal in Colorado for registered medical marijuana patients, some of the strictest marijuana regulations and laws in the U.S. are currently in place in Colorado, not allowing much room for growth in the state's medicinal marijuana industry. Recently, Colorado officials announced medical marijuana account holders were losing their only existing partner in banking, The Colorado Springs State Bank. Licensed medical marijuana account holders have until the end of September to close their accounts, leaving many in a panic of what to do. Other banks in the past have refused the business of medical marijuana account holders because marijuana is illegal under federal law. In an effort to keep it consistent across the board, The Colorado Springs State Bank has finally determined that marijuana account holders are doing something cons

Laws becoming stricter for Colorado medical marijuana growers, buyers, sellers and patients

According to Denver CBS Channel 4, beginning July 1st, medical marijuana caregivers are required to register with the state and let the authorities know exactly where they are growing the plants.  This means that even those who are growing the marijuana for medical reasons for less than 5 patients will have to let the state authorities know their grow sites and which strands of marijuana they are growing. Now the smaller growers are going through similar regulations as the bigger dispensaries. Many Colorado marijuana growers have been growing in the area for years—it is important they recognize all of the rules and regulations that have been changed. It’s even important for their patients to understanding what their providers should be doing to abide by the rules. If caregivers, dispensaries or patients fall to abide by the laws in place, it might mean fines or other prosecution set by the Colorado state government. It is recommended that all Colorado MMJ patients and empl

Colorado MMJ: Bringing Conventional Medicine Back to the Basics

It shocks me how concerned society is today about pesticides and additives in the foods we eat, but how little we care about the additives in pharmaceutical drugs. Colorado is known among other states as a state with plenty of organic and natural stores, farmer’s markets and options for those who want to eliminate additives from their diet. While many are turning to natural vitamins and herbs to boost metabolism and ensure their bodies receive ample nutrients, we are still ignoring the amount of processed drugs we consume for pain. Medical marijuana is one of the only pain subsiding options that is grown naturally, as an herb. Instead of manipulating the symptoms of your illness, medical marijuana can completely get rid of the pain of a dulling sickness like cancer, AIDS or other chronic diseases. Medical marijuana is an all-natural medicine, free of additives, colors and preservatives. For those who find themselves at the local natural food store, peering down the drug aisle at

Medical Marijuana Benefits the Colorado Economy and Resident’s State of Mind

Medical marijuana is legal in 15 states and Washington D.C.—but only after extreme movements to get laws passed.  It was definitely worth the fight for Colorado, however, because medical marijuana has improved the economy and well being of chronic pain sufferers within the state. Benefits of Medical Marijuana to the Colorado Economy Since it’s also legal for Colorado residents to grown the Medical marijuana, legalization of the drug has brought plenty of economical benefits to Colorado residents. With hundreds of medical marijuana stores, jobs have been created that would have either not existed, or been illegal in prior years (in the case that those same people sold marijuana illegally). On top of job openings for those qualified or licensed to sell medical marijuana, jobs were also created for residents who grow the herb to sell to the dealers. How Medical Marijuana Helps Coloradans With an additional tax on medical marijuana, those buying it for medical reasons help bri
