Originally reported by Hannah Hess SPRINGFIELD, Ill. :: Authorization, or decriminalization, of marijuana use for medicinal purposes was shot down by a slim margin Thursday by the Illinois House. Falling only four votes from passage, the long anticipated legalization of medical marijuana in Illinois was rejected. Supporters of Illinois medical marijuana, though disappointed are already preparing for the next battle. Passage of the bill would have followed the trend of State governments decriminalizing the use of marijuana for medicinal use in order to alleviate individuals suffering from chronic pain or nausea caused by certain debilitating conditions. Instead, the Illinois House on Thursday created additional roadblocks to progress in addressing the emerging and legitimate business of medical marijuana. Many "would be" Illinois medical marijuana patients are left with disappointment and the undesirable choice of either remaining in pain or being labeled a criminal
